About Indian Evangelical Mission (IEM)

IEM Field EventThe Indian Evangelical Mission (IEM) is an indigenous and inter-denominational missionary organisation labouring in India and outside for more than 35 years. The IEM is headquartered in Bangalore and now it has mission fields spread across about 37 places in India and in six other countries - UK, Sudan, West Asia, Thailand, Papua New Guinea and Philippines. It has 463 missionaries working among nearly 50 different people groups all over India. The Lord has brought thousands of people to His fold through the ministry of IEM over the years.

Their Mission is to:

  • Take the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the unevangelised areas in India and abroad, and to plant churches among unreached people. Their goal is a church among every people group and the Gospel to every person.

  • Challenge Indian Christians to realise their responsibility for world evangelisation and to recognize their partnership with other Christians in the world in fulfilling their task.

India has the "highest concentration of unevanglised people in the world". A mere 3-4% of India's one billion (1,000,000,000) population are Christian. Within India alone there are over 2000 unreached people groups where there are no Christians or viable churches. Jesus said: "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation". Mark 16:15

Church planting is the primary objective of the Indian Evangelical Mission. To establish a church where no church exists is the foundation of their ministry. This ministry is as old as the Mission itself. Their missionaries are equipped with language learning skills at the Outreach Training Institute(OTI) when they join the Mission. This helps them learn the language(unwritten in most cases) quickly. Coming from drastically different cultures, their missionaries have to cross cultural, language and social barriers to make contact with the people they are trying to reach. Potential leaders are identified and trained to lead their own people.

Friends of Indian Evangelical Mission Australia (FIEMA) are Christians in Australia who have entered into partnership with IEM, to support, promote, and pray for the Mission. FIEMA seeks to promote the interests of IEM by informing Australian Christians about the work done by IEM missionaries, and raising financial and prayer support for the Mission.
