About European Christian Mission (ECM)

European Christian Mission (ECM) are an international and interdenominational organisation comprising evangelical Christians called by God and commissioned by local churches to serve in partnership in the evangelisation of the peoples of Europe.

The Mission is dedicated to the evangelisation of Europe, and for the salvation of souls. ECM are currently working in 19 countries of Europe, employing about 200 workers from 20 countries around the world. In Europe this two-fold purpose is realised through the encouragement and strengthening of evangelical churches throughout Europe and wherever the workers serve by Bible teaching and evangelistic ministry, and the establishing of New Testament evangelical churches in areas where there is inadequate or no Christian testimony.

One of the countries that ECM operate is Ukraine. Perhaps more than anywhere in the rest of Europe, God is reaping a tremendous harvest in the Ukraine. Churches are growing fast and church planting is clearly on the agenda.

Ray & Cathy Busuttil, Ukraine

Busuttil familyRay & Cathy Busuttil are involved in training and teaching Bible students and pastors. One exciting feature of their work is that those they teach must go out and put into practice what they learn. They go out and plant churches! The approach is Biblical Education by Extension. Rather than Christians having to go away to fixed-base schools (Christian colleges and seminaries), Christian college type courses are offered in small groups to people right where they live. The goal is to equip thousands of lay people for Christian ministry, and to plant, pastor and lead churches.

The ministry started in 1990 with a western missionary discipling twelve dedicated Christians. For a number of years the missionary taught BEE courses to the leaders who then taught others. Most of all, the work has been done by Ukrainians. When courses started in the fall of 2000, there were over 8,000 people taking BEE courses in every oblast (state) except one. The main goal of the ministry to equip men to plant, lead and pastor churches is being accomplished through the local BEE Bible Training Centers (BTC), of which there is one Bible training center in each oblast. Workers in the BEE ministry are very diligent.
