There was a man he had to go
From Jerusalem down to Jericho.
Some thieves they came without a sound
Knocked him bleeding to the ground.
Chorus (Optional)
Listen to what the Lord commands,
Love your neighbour He demands.
Who's my neighbour you will find
To the Lord it's all mankind
0 then those thieves, they took his gold
And left him lying there so cold
Will a neighbour pass this way
To heel his wounds and with him stay?
Upon that road a priest came by,
Left that man on the road to die.
The road was long, and the road was wide,
That priest passed by on the other side.
A Levite looked when he passed that way,
But did not help and did not stay.
This man of God he would not stand
and give his brother a helping hand.
Samaritan he then came past
Known to all as an outcast.
But his neighbour he there sees
Binds and treats his injuries.
Listen to what the Lord commands,
Love your neighbour He demands
Who's my neighbour you will find
To the Lord it's all mankind
Ten Commandments are God's Law
But neighbour's not just the bloke next door
The truth in Jesus Christ you'll find
Unto the Lord it's all mankind.
