Pastor Shane Rogerson
"My job at St Peters is pretty straight forward with two particular responsibilities.
First, Ephesians 4:12 says that it is the pastor teacher's role to equip God's people for works of service. As I preach and teach publicly and from home to home, my goal is to help people understand what it genuinely means to belong to God and his people through Jesus, and train them to follow Jesus and fish for men and women.
Second I have the role of training up other leaders/elders in the church to do the same (2 Timothy 2:2). In other words I help every day people to become ministers of Jesus who live as missionaries – and I train other pastors to hopefully do a better job than me."
Youth Minister
Angelo Porcu
The youth of Cooks River parish are exposed to all the same problems
faced by the youth of inner-city parishes throughout the world: violence,
drug abuse, petty crime and feelings of isolation, alienation and
low self-esteem.
Angelo is a well-known figure among the youth of the area and battles
the ills of inner city life on many fronts.
He runs scripture classes
in the local schools to bring children to a better way of life
before they hit their teens. For those who have already moved on
he runs
the Drop-In Centre for
teens and young adults.
